Multiple M.Sc graduate student positions are available in the Dreamspike Research Laboratory of Dr. Marcus Ng at the University of Manitoba.
The mission of the laboratory is to advance knowledge and clinically translate understanding into the impact of sleep on epilepsy, focusing on the anti-epileptic effects of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. With a wealth of clinical data from real-life epilepsy patients undergoing continuous inpatient electroencephalographic (EEG) telemetry, the laboratory focuses on, but is not limited to, epilepsy-sleep computational neurophysiology, such as the analysis of epileptiform and seizure activity that breaks through during REM sleep. The laboratory is equipped with specialized quantitative EEG spectrography and source localization software to augment the typical suite of EEG signal processing tools used in this research space.
Interested candidates should provide a Curriculum Vitae (CV), a covering letter, academic transcripts, and three (3) letters of reference. The positions are fully funded with standard stipends commensurate with the University of Manitoba guidelines and Departmental bylaws. Successful students will be admitted as per the requirements of the Biomedical Engineering program.
